Nexium 24HR is a medication used to treat acid reflux, heartburn, and other gastric problems. It is also used to treat frequent heartburn and acid reflux caused by medications such as sleeping hicks (treats frequent heartburn), sleeping tablets (snares such as dispersed olanzapine), and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin. Nexium 24HR works by blocking stomach acid travels through your intestines and stomach to your small intestine. It does this by blocking the enzymes in your digestive system called H+ and K+ channels, which are located in the small intestine.
Nexium 24HR comes in 250 and 500 mg doses. Your doctor will decide the strength and quantity of the dose that will work best for you. Nexium 24HR tablets are taken once per day with or without food. Do not take Nexium 24HR if you have severe heartburn or other problems with your heart. Taking Nexium 24HR with food may help prevent stomach irritation.
Nexium 24HR should not be taken by children or teenagers as it may cause harm to an unborn baby. The drug may also cause lumps and pain when you move. If you become pregnant while taking Nexium 24HR, call your doctor immediately. It is not recommended to keep track of how long you have been taking Nexium 24HR unless your doctor has told you to.
